The perfect place to sit, watch people...and ponder the fact that you're upside down.

Sydney Harbour was my first experience of the southern hemisphere. I’d arrived from Mongolia very late the night before to a hostel just down the road, but I got up early, walked down to the waterfront and spent all morning people watching.
I’d just come from a long stay in a sparsely populated country where you could drive for days without seeing a soul. Now I’d woken up to find myself surrounded by more camera-toting tourists than I had ever seen in any one place before. I had skyscrapers behind me with the pink backdrop of an oncoming storm. To my left a huge metal arc, (on top of which I could distinguish yet more photo hungry ants) and a mixture of long red, spaceship like boats speeding left and right. In the distance I could discern the hum of a busker’s didgeridoo whilst I stood in awe at the foot of the Opera House, or what looked to me at the time as a group of giant nuns in a rugby scrum…
I sat there for hours just trying to take it all in and feeling as if I were a little country boy in a big futuristic city. I met a French girl who felt exactly the same way. We talked for a while then crossed the bridge to explore the other side…

Australia/New Zealand are my dreams!
I've a pen pal in Sydney and a really good friend who lives in Christchurch (NZ)
I swear, the moment I set foot in either of those countries I am just going to be so happy

Great shots of Sydney, and a wonderful story to go with it! I hope your next stop was Melbourne/Victoria ;)
