A spontaneous trip to Warwick Castle on the banks of the Avon. A glorious sunny Sunday in April.
Warwick Castle is a beautiful medieval Castle on the banks of the Avon in Warwick, the county town of Warwickshire. I took a last-minute trip there last Sunday when out for a drive in the sunshine.
The castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1068 and was used as a fortification until the early 17th century. It was then changed in to a residence for the Earls of Warwick in 1759.
As it stands now the Castle is run as an attraction by Tussauds, which unfortunately makes it pricey to enter, It has a great view of the river Avon and the surrounding town of Warwick and fantastic grounds. Highlights for me were the falconry, peacock gardens and trebuchet.
