Pombal is a small city located in the center of Portugal where you can find a Castle that has a new steel constrution over the old stone.
Pombal is a small city located in the center of Portugal. In the top of the hill they have a castle, as many other cities where the kings had chosen them for building this type of construction. In 1128, the Castle of Pombal had been given to an Order of Templars, which had protected it and the city. As most of this kind of buildings, it had had different periods and happenings all long the history.
Nowadays they had made a contemporary intervention in the tower, architecture project by Luís Miguel Correia, a corten steel stair and volumes over the old stone. It is an interesting place to visit if you’re near of it. The castle is considered a Portuguese protected monument.
I enjoyed the experience of being in this ancient place where newer man-made things had been made and the visit turned to be really important to me because it had been one of the first time that I had used my Horizon Kompakt.
