Katibawasan Falls is one of the precious gems in the small island-province of Camiguin. Crystal clear water, striking greenery, misty atmosphere – what more can you ask for?
Katibawasan Falls is one of the precious gems in the small island-province of Camiguin. With a minimal entrance fee of 15 pesos (30 ¢), one can enjoy the beautiful scenery this place has to offer – crystal clear water, striking greenery, and misty atmosphere.
This natural wonder is picture-perfect! Giant ferns, wild trees and vines, ground orchids, and huge boulders envelope the towering waterfalls with a majestic height of 250 feet. The ice-cold water rushing down into its natural pool is also invigorating for a good swim. No wonder why it has become a very popular destination among tourists, both local and foreign, during the summer season. Take note: No swimming attire is required!
Given its elevated location, hiring a multicab or pick-up van is highly recommended. The waterfalls is situated 5 kms. southeast of Mambajao at the foot of Mt. Timpoong. Small vehicles like tricycle or habal-habal (motorcycle) may have a difficult time going up. Some portions of the road to the falls are also steep and not cemented.
Katibawasan Falls is such a a wonderful place for those who want to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. I will surely visit this paradise again!
