A little piece of heaven on earth.
Located in the Vale das Furnas, Parque Terra Nostra is a centennial garden, which has a wide variety of exotic plants and trees, lakes and two streams, one of hot water, and a huge natural pool of brown and hot water acquiring this tone due to presence of iron.
It contains one of the largest collections of camellias in the world, with over 600 different species. Redwoods, pines, cedars, oaks and poplars, mixed with bamboo groves and giant ferns, and flowerbeds. This park was considered one of the 12 most beautiful in the world by Condé Nast Travel of Condé Nast Publications on 2007. Is open weekdays between 10:00 and 20:00, the ticket price is 2,75 euros and gives access to the hot natural pool.
I was amazingly surprised by the variety, the exotic and the exquisite all combined in one place. It’s a great place for long walking’s on the shadow of the tall trees, dark poetry and melancholic moods.
