Botanical Jewel With Nicki Chihuly

An amazing Botanical Garden with beautiful glass sculptures.

One of the Jewel locations of St louis is the St. Louis Botanical Garden. I love the placement of glass artist Dale Chihuly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dale_Chihuly and mosaic artist Nicki Saint Phalle http://www.nikidesaintphalle.org/press/20080107_missouri_botanical_garden . Both of the artists works are a lomographers dream. I have on many occasions wondered around finding great views and angles with the great light plays of the glass. The St. Louis Botanical Garden is a National Historic Landmark. It also has the distinction of being the oldest botanical garden in the United States at one hundred and fifty years old.

The grounds of the Missouri Botanical Garden feature gardens, modern and traditional, and living collections of major groups of ornamental and practical plants. The greenhouses hold a world of conservatories display plants native to lands from the edge of the earth away from St. Louis Missouri. The St. Louis Botanical Garden is also known as “Shaw’s Garden” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Shaw_ ) Henry Shaw a botanist bought what is now the gardens after he retired at forty years old from family hardware business. He built his home here and began his intense interests in botany one of the largest landowners in St. Louis in 1840. “Shaw’s Garden." Henry Shaw’s was given to the city of St. Louis in 1859. Lomographers when you are in St. Louis make it to Shaw’s garden you will not be disappointed.

It should be Nicki and Chihuly in the title... like I wrote it...Botanical Jewel With Nicki and Chihuly. Two people, two different artists.
