Such a musical treat!
In August 2009 I went to Summer Sundae Weekender, a three day music festival in Leicester, that offers festival goers a brilliant and eclectic mix of bands of all styles over six stages, plus comedy in the Festivals Comedy Tent – in a total of over 100 acts!
The festival, going for it’s tenth anniversary, has full camping facilities, which I didn’t use last year due to many reasons but intend to use this year – because I love camping in music festivals so much! It also has a civilized, family friendly, very indie (if there is such a thing) and relaxed atmosphere, an unwavering ethical standpoint and reasonably-priced foods from around the world!
What I liked the most:
The fact that it showcases emerging talent along with well known established bands; the lemon crepes (omg, so simple and so good); Bon Iver; Imelda May; the relative absence of corporate sponsorship; seeing lots of children – which is not very common in such events!
This year I will most definitely return and I encouraged everyone to do the same! It’s really worth it.
