The Natural History Museum, London

Get up-to-date on the dates that have already passed.

The Natural History museum is one of my favourite places to go to in the whole country, and not just because it’s free entry.

Located along Exhibition Road in the South Kensington area of London alongside the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, this landmark Alfred Waterhouse building is almost as historical as the secrets it holds within it’s walls. Established in 1881, the huge array of displays (ranging from entire dinosaur skeletons to a life-size model of a blue whale) never fail to bring in a crowd. The amount of fascinating exhibitions and hands-on activities are too many to list and require a sizeable amount of time to really study and take in, but the architecture of the very building itself is the main drawing point for me. I’ve been visiting this institution since I was a very young boy obsessed with all things dinosaur but nowadays just the appearance of the building itself, inside and out, is enough to give me the chills…and when you team the aesthetics of the building with the ice-rink and carousel located outside the front of the building, you get a perfect opportunity for some lomographic fun!

If you ever have the chance to drop by the City of London, the Natural History Museum should be high on your list of landmarks to visit…and don’t forget to bring your camera!

I was only there two days ago! You're right, it's a beautiful place. Going to be a week or so before I can get my photos up, though.

but if you visit it, go to the Darwin Center, just at one side of the old building. If you do so, don't forget your fisheye lens!
