Plaza Castilla Torres Kio (The Horns of the Devil)

If you ever go to Madrid try to discover what the Torres Kio look like. Maybe there are better places in Madrid to visit but this place is quite important to me as every time I have to be in Madrid for work I stay in one of the hotels near that place.

Plaza castilla is placed on the north part of Madrid and it’s one of the squares that divide Paseo de la Castellana. There are many attractions there: two of the main business buildings of the Spanish Capital are placed there. Two inverses twins that used to be the skyline of Madrid. Now other 4 great skyscrapers are near, where the Real Madrid sport city was once placed.

The Torres Kio, as there are known are more than 100 hundred meters high and almost 30 floors. They became real famous due to a Spanish Terror Movie made in 1995 called El Dia de La Bestia by Alex de La Iglesia (http://www.clubcultura.com/clubcine/clubcineastas/delaiglesia/obra_bestia.htm).

The reason why they became famous is that they look like the devils horns. The buildings are not straight, they are built with a 15% of inclination. But they are not the only interesting place in that square. The main Subway station now in Madrid is also placed there ( El Intercambiador). The station where all the lines and buses join.

The new obelisc is designed by Santiago Calatrava (one of the most famous architects in the world). It will have (as by now it’s not finished) 92 meters high. Also near is the Canal Isabel II park, a very good cultural exhibition center. For example now there’s a retrospective of photography made by Rodchenko. Really nice to visit if you are near the city during these days. Rodchenko changed the perspectives in the 20’s. The water tank is still there in order to keep the history alive.

Es muy exótico ver las locations desde Asia, Polinesia y el Ártico ,... pero, de vez en cuando, no viene mal el pasearnos por nuestra casa.
    ¡¡ Felicidades !!
