In 1985 i use to escape from elementary school through a tunnel to play here , today there is no tunnel anymore ,but the park continues magic.
The park have this name (Engine park) because in 1724 , there were one engine to cut wood to provide timber for glass industry and boat building .This engine was all made from wood and moved by wind , in 1774 it disappeared.. Gone with a fire. Also there were a church that was destroyed in 1810 by the french army , a stable , a stove to resinous distillation and an experimental field of botanic studies. It is a place full of trees and gardens , but actually it is not easy to find the park open, despite some services from the forest still work here .
Some buildings are banished , some gardens are not so well preserved but the park continues magic . Maybe, one day someone look to this place and make something useful, maybe a hotel or a museum about the forest. If your path cross Marinha Grande try to visit Parque do Engenho , and feel the magic of century’s …

Perfect for a walk in an autumn afternoon... the place has some kind of graveyard feeling.
