Public transport in Torino. For the trip back you can take the underground if you like, but I can’t do anything for you. I never used the underground.

To get around the city of Torino if you don’t have a car you have to use public transport, just like in other big cities. But in Torino this is an adventure. The underground isn’t very developed so you have to take the bus and sometimes the tramway. Bus lines are very long. Too long in fact. When you don’t live downtown, a bus journey can take almost an hour wherever you want to go. If you’re lucky you can take only one bus, if you’re not you can change 3 or 4 times… Before getting on the bus you have to buy a ticket because bus drivers don’t sell any.

No ticket machine at the bus stop, so you have to find an opened tobacconist in the area to purchase a ticket. When you’re going somewhere you must know how to get there. At the bus stop there’s only a list of all the bus stops (names and numbers), no map. Once you’re in the bus you have to pay attention to what’s going on outside if you don’t know very well the city because no list or map can help you from inside the bus. Be careful! You have to change for an other bus but you can’t find it… Wait, I get it. The GTT’s (Gruppo Torinese Trasporti) website told you that it was a bus but it’s not, it’s a tramway that comes directly from the 70’s. As orange and uncomfortable as at that time. You finally arrived safe and sound. For the trip back you can take the underground if you like, but I can’t do anything for you. I never used the underground. Good luck!
