Barranco District stands on the cliffs that overlook the Pacific Ocean and has a great artistic/bohemian ambiance!
Barranco is a very nice neighborhood to visit when staying in Lima. It is less known than Miraflores but it is a jewel. It overlooks the Pacific Ocean and used to be a seaside resort for wealthy families. Now days it is being invaded by artists that live or work/sell here. The result of this new art meeting old architecture you can see on my pictures! :)
It is also one of the places to go to meet Lima’s nightlife. I was here only in the morning, shooting the last shots before getting the plane back home…
Barranco has a foundation myth, a legend from the XVII century that tells that a miracle happened here. It is said that a luminous cross appeared in the same place where today stands the park “Parque de la Ermita”, saving a group of fisherman who couldn’t find the shore because of the intense fog.

So nice ! And you'll might find this weird, but all this street art freedom, and the mix with old buildings, makes me think of some parts of Athens !
