The biggest Catholic Church in Iligan City, St. Michaels Cathedral stands at the center of the city. Reminding everyone that miracles still happen.
St. Michaels Cathedral reminds the Iliganon that miracles can still happen. It stands at the center of the City fronting the St. Michaels College. It is a reminder of the struggle of Mindanaons to heal itself both in ideology and in personal conflicts.
Iligan City is a multi-cultural society of Maranaos, Muslims and Catholic and Christian denominations, and some Indigenous peoples. Amidst the fragile peace in Mindanao the cathedral and the city itself serve to give hope of how people can still come together and live harmoniously. In Iligan City, Muslims, Christians and IPs strive to coexist. Trying to respect idealism and religion.
On a personal note, miracles were also given through pious devotions. Board Exams were hurdled, difficult pregnancies were overcame. These are just some of the facets of how the cathedral reminds everyone that maybe, just maybe there is a God.
