Iligan is a simple city, but with quite a complicated story. It is a city that is very near conflict areas. And it is not spared by bombings by terrorist groups that plague the southern provinces of the Philippines. In spite of this, it has somehow secured itself picked itself up from every casualty, and continues to give space for conversations.
One such venue is Aruma Coffee Shop. It is within the perimeter of the St. Michaels College and St. Michaels Cathedral in Iligan. What sets it apart is that it is the first coffee shop in Iligan that made use of nice, white and modern furniture to create an ambiance of peace and togetherness. In here, people do not care about heavy idealism that weigh down the Mindanaon. In here, it is a safe and cool place to sip coffee, to share a table and maybe some conversations with old friends. And maybe a venue for thoughts to be poured out, plans to be made. And while we are at it, maybe to chart the common future of the Mindanaon. Well that deserves a good cup of coffee.
