There is little about the Angkor Wat that hasn’t already been said – it is majestic, it is beautiful, and it truly is a wonder. What many people who haven’t been to Siem Reap might not realize is that around the Angkor Wat temple itself, there are many other temples that are just as amazing in their splendor.
Temples such as Bayon, with its huge serene smiling faces carved out of stone; the tree-strangled Ta Prohm (popularised in the Tomb Raider movie); Banteay Srei and it’s incredibly intricate carvings; three-tiered temple mountain Baphuon as well as the crumbling Ta Keo. All of them are unique in their own ways, and all of them deserve a visit if you find yourself in Cambodia.
