Konya Kebab is the name of quite a number kebab bars in Copenhagen – some good others horrible. This particular Konya Kebab is located at Nørrebrogade 106 opposite of Assistens Kirkegård and falls in the first category. However I wouldn’t go as far as to say that it is the best among the numerous kebab bars on Nørrebrogade – I simply wouldn’t know.
Konya Kebab serves cheap and good Middle Eastern food. Mostly döner kebab (lamb) or chicken kebab served as shawarma (what Danes would typically call ‘a kebab’) or dürüm. If you’re not that into meat you can order all dishes with falafel instead of meat. Konya Kebab is probably mostly known for its long opening hours – they are open until 6 am – which makes it one of the places where hordes of young drunk people go to get something to eat after a long night out. In my humble opinion this is where kebab bars are most interesting! People have a blast, spill their food all over themselves and act crazy. Sometimes these places even becoming pick-up spots for the last desperate singles on their way home. During the day hours all this craziness is packed away, and you can sit and enjoy your food in peace as the daily life of Nørrebrogade goes by.
What I’ve written here will (to some extend) fit most other Kebab bars on Nørrebrogade – or in Copenhagen in general, and I won’t recommend this place over others in Copenhagen. If you feel like Middle Eastern food just go to a place that looks nice. If you are on Nørrebrogade the kebab bars aren’t many steps apart, so check out a couple of places.
