Buddha Eden Garden AKA Garden of Peace
written by zulupt on October 3rd, 2009 , 2 comments (2 votes)

Buddah Eden Garden is a farm where great quality wines are produced, is has been modified by Comendador José Berardo Comendador Berardo which was profoundly shocked by the attitude of the Taliban Government, which intentionally destroyed these unique monuments of World Heritage, considered acts of cultural barbarism which attempted to erase from memory the art of the late Gandhara period.

In 2001, in response to this loss he initiated another of his dreams, the creation of an extensive oriental garden in honor of those colossal Buddha’s. Despite of being labeled as an oriental garden, it has many different styles, you can find Romanic, oriental and Buddhist statues mixed with Portuguese architecture, this may sound a bit disordered but the final result is amazing, all the styles are perfectly placed in the middle of a magnificent Portuguese forest.

It is a great place to relax and photograph, enjoying the surrounding nature, the magnificent oriental lake, the Romanic fountain, the oriental gate, golden Buddha statues or, if you like wine, you can do a wine taste and try some of the best Portuguese wines and cuisine.

The city of Bombarral is also very rich on ancient architecture, you can easily find lodging and excellent restaurants, it is worth to spend one or two days and visit Buddha Eden Garden and enjoying what the city has to offer.
My only advise is to carry lots of film, on my first visit I spend three 36 exp. Films in one morning!
I used Lomo LCA, Lubitel 166+ and Lomo Supersampler.
