The Belvedere is a baroque palace that was built in the 18th century as the summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy by one of the most important architects of the Austrian Baroque, Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt. It has two palaces. The Upper and the Lower Belvedere, and of course beautiful gardens and fountains.
Today the Lower Belvedere is the Austrian Museum of Baroque and in the Upper is the Austrian Gallery with a collection of 19th- and 20th-century Austrian paintings. You can find here works of artist like Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka and Gustav Klimt. I’m a fan of Klimt’s art, that’s why i came to this museum in the first place, because the Upper Belvedere has the most largest collection of Klimt’s paintings in the world, and here is The Kiss and Judith!!
Appart from the paintings, you can admire beautiful architecture and elegant decoration at the “Sala Terrena”, the “Marble Hall” and the “Grand Staircase”
And the shop it’s really great, but expensive, you have to come with a lot of euros!
