Singapore Marina Barrage
written by renaishashin on September 26th, 2009 , 7 comments (5 votes)

Marina Barrage is considered Singapore’s latest downtown icon, built across the mouth of the Marina Channel. The Marina Barrage is the first reservoir in the heart of the city, 15th in Singapore. With a catchment area of 10,000 hectares, or 1/6 the size of Singapore, the Marina catchment is the island’s largest and most urbanised catchment.

This colossal architectural masterpiece is a must-visit. Take a stroll through the barrage’s vast compounds and come face to face with stunning engineering equipment. Visit the intriguing gallery and discover how the Marina barrage ingeniously prevents flooding to the city’s low-lying areas. Or simply stand atop the green roof to take in the sweeping Singapore city skyline.
