This place really doesn't get the attention it deserves.
Yes it’s not the most clean, nor the most attractive, and yes you can’t walk more than a block without someone asking for change or trying to sell you something (I mean I can only own so many cheap suits and plastic toys with Spanish instructions), but I’ll be damned to say this is not one of the more interesting places in Southern California.
Downtown offers much to those willing to do a little exploring. Whether you want to see some amazing buildings (Millennium Biltmore Hotel, Bradbury Building), grab a bite to eat (The Pantry, Daikokuya, Wurstkuche), see some art (MoCA and too many galleries to list), or just get lost and take it all in. And for those who dare brave public transportation, the DASH system is where it’s at. For just a quarter you can get to any end of downtown (as far south as USC all the way up to Chinatown) in a just a couple minutes.
So strap on a pair of comfortable walking shoes and see what you can find.
