Sítio da Nazaré became populated in the XVII century, after the miracle on the legend of Dom Fuas Roupinho, the legend says that once the devil in the form of a deer tried to lure Dom Fuas Roupinho into the 110 meters fall but moments before Dom Fuas Roupinho had a vision, warned by Nossa Senhora da Nazaré, Dom Fuas Roupinho managed to stop before the fall.
On Sítio da Nazaré you can visit the Nossa Senhora da Nazaré church and the São Miguel Arcanjo Fort, standing 80 meters above the ocean. I have seen the most beautiful sunsets ever from this place. You can also visit a traditional Bull ring, bull fights is one of the favorite entertainments of the local population. It is also a very beautiful place.
During the day you can go to the beach, but at night you can go to amazing restaurants, the specialty is fish and seafood and almost all restaurants are very good. Nazaré also has many bars, beach parties and discos where you can have loads of fun all night long until the sun rises again.
Want to meet a really special place? Just get lodging in Sítio da nazaré and take the funicular elevator which lets you right in the front of the Nazaré beach, you can see amazing landscapes, eat delicious food and wine and have fun all night long; you can’t get better than this.
