Istanbul can be an tiresome city, especially during the summer. It is very pleasant to make a great cruise on the Bosphorus with the ferry, which takes you from Eminonü to Anadolu Kavagi, to the north, near the black sea, for a tree hours sail.
It’s a picturesque spot in which to wander and have a seafood lunch at one of the touristy places on the square in front of the ferry terminal. Perched above the village are the ruins of Anadolu Kavağı Kalesi, a medieval castle that originally had eight massive towers in its walls.
Traditionally, Anadolu Kavagi has been a small fishing village, of late it remains so, but has also grown to accommodate eager day-trippers from Istanbul.
The zig-zag ferry – that runs both sides of the Biosphorus – stops here 3 hours, from 12 h to 15h, so you have time to eat in a fish restaurant, being the center of interest of all the stray cats of the village !
The we watched the kids swimming in the little port, before going back to Eminonü.
