Zen Garden Of Tofukuji Temple

Take a look at this quiet and beautiful Zen garden!

Tofukuji was founded in 1236, and is small, but very beautiful Zen garden in Kyoto, Japan. I, as an admirer of Japanese history, love to visit the historical sites whenever I have a chance to do so. As most people may already know, Kyoto boasts many temples and shrines that were left by Japanese ancestors throughout the history. There are many famous ones like Kiyomizu Temple and Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), which are always filled with visitors. Those famous ones are surely wonderful, but I tend to enjoy myself much more when I go to the smaller ones like Tofukuji Temple.

When I went to Tofukuji for the first time, I felt like, I could FEEL the history. It’s really quite and peaceful there and I could just sit there and watch the garden for a long, long time. By the way, when I say small, I don’t really mean the size is small. I should probably say it’s not as famous. Tofukuji has a few sections, and each section has a differently astonishing garden. They are all beautifully patterned, using moss and rocks.
