Griffith Park

Griffith Park is one of the most famous landmarks of Los Angeles, but I somehow feel it’s been ignored by the locals these days. There are many visitors here at the Griffith Park, but more travelers seem to visit the park than the locals do. I, myself, was one of the local who’d never visited the park until now!

The park boasts a beautiful view of Los Angels, and if you are lucky enough to visit there on the very clear day, you will be able to have a very good look at the legendary Hollywood sign from the park. Smog is a big problem here in L.A, but when you are looking at the beautiful color during the sunset, you will more likely appreciate the smog for just a moment! (Wait, did I just say that out loud?)

Griffith Park offers many activities, such as hiking, mountain biking, golf, and horse back riding, but the most people probably visit there for the famous observatory. If you ever have a chance to visit the observatory, make sure to go to the planetarium to see a light show. The price is pretty reasonable- it’s $7 for adults, $5 for students, and $3 for children. The show was very intriguing, and made me remembered how small my existence was!!!

Once it gets dark, you also might want to go upstairs to the telescope. The admission is free, so as long as you are patient enough to wait in line, you will be able to see a planet that you can’t see with your naked eyes! And of course, don’t forget to enjoy the night view of Los Angeles before you leave:)

I grew up in Los Angeles and I've actually never been to the Griffith Park Observatory. :( I've been to the park proper, though! Best place to ride horses in Los Angeles, hands down.
