Third Street Promenade is located only a few blocks away from the beach, and offers a very lively atmosphere with many visitors from all over the world. It’s sealed off from the traffic, and the pedestrians enjoy the huge selection of stores, restaurants, and entertainments here. If you are one of those shopping lovers, this is definitely the place to go, and if you are the boyfriend of a shopping lover, worry not. It’s also the place for you! There are so many performances on the Third Street by musicians, magicians, or acrobats to name a few, so you will not be bored while you are waiting for your girlfriend to go through all the stores!
Once you are done exploring the city, you might want to walk just a few blocks to go to the most famous Santa Monica Pier. Although I’ve been living in L.A. for the last 9 years, I never had a chance to go to there until very recently. I know, shame on me…. but ever since I went there for the first time, I’d been wanting to go back there, and the LC-A race gave me a great excuse to do so! I love the fact that the little fair is located on the beach. My favorite is definitely the Ferris wheel where I can enjoy the view of the coast as it goes around. Besides the rides, there is also video arcade and many games that you can play for prizes, which for sure, the kids would love if you were traveling with one.
Okay, I’m pretty sure it’s about the time you want to do something that doesn’t cost you any money after spending a day on the Third Street and the Pier, so I’m going to tell you my other favorite spot to visit. When you are done with the Pier, don’t go straight back where you came from. Instead, go down on the beach to relax, or play if you still have energy left. There are balancing bars, ropes, and well, all the gymnastic stuff here and it is a lot of fun to just play around without worrying about spending more money!!! And I’m pretty sure that you, Lomo maniacs, would love taking pictures here because the view of the Pier from the beach is stunning as the sun goes down:)
