World's Largest Dinosaur - Summer Road Trip - LomoStop #1
written by dirklancer on September 2nd, 2009 , 7 comments (3 votes)

The first lomostop on our summer road trip was a quick rest break at the foot of the World’s Largest Dinosaur. Now, before we get into a silly argument about the T-Rex not actually being the World’s Largest Dinosaur, let me clarify. This is a structure which is about 3 times the size of an actual T-Rex – that’s what makes it the World’s Largest.

Of course, the first thing you do when you get out of your vehicle and walk up to the T-Rex is to climb up and take a picture! Everyone climbs onto the big creature’s toes to pose for a typical tourist photo. This happens so much that the paint is wearing off his (or her) tremendous claws. The visitor centre park at the base of the World’s Largest Dinosaur was originally home to a MUCH smaller dinosaur statue – he’s still there, but dwarfed by his mutant brother.

Drumheller is a town with many things to do, but the World’s Largest Dinosaur is usually a visitor’s first stop – probably because you can see it from across town, and curiosity draws you to it. The second stop is usually across the street for some ice cream followed by a look at some unusual – and unusually expensive – souvenirs. You can climb up inside the World’s Largest Dinosaur for $3 a head, and take a look out of his mouth over the town, but we had other places to go and things to see…

If you want to visit the World’s Largest Dinosaur…drive to Drumheller and look for his (or her) head peeking at you over the buildings. :)

dude, your story sounds like National Lampoons Vacation, except you didn't go to Wally World! Great story and great images.
