Place du Trocadéro is a huge square where people go and enjoy the beautiful view to the Eiffel Tower. It is wonderful to stand there, enjoy a good time and watch the great view of the Eiffel Tower and the gardens around the place. Place du Trocadéro has a great location because it is about 10 minutes from the Eiffel Tower and about 15 or 20 minutes to the Champs-Élysées and is also near the municipal library.

Near to the square there are a lot of stands that sell ice cream, the typical French sandwiches and there are also people selling souvenirs to the tourists like paintings from famous places of Paris, small Eiffel Towers, pins with images of the city and so on. Place du Trocadéro is one of the squares that you can’t miss when visiting Paris. A lot of people think that the best view to the Eiffel Tower is from Place du Trocadéro, and it is one of the basic stops in Paris. It’s a place with a lot of tourists because of the beautiful views that this square provides.

The name trocadéro comes from a term referring to an emporium or place of trade. The name Place du Trocadéro was given in 1877 (though the name has been associated with the area since 1823) to a square formerly known as the place du Roi de Rome (i.e., Place of the King of Rome), the renaming being an example of discarding a reference to a defeated regime.

In the Place du Trocadéro is located the Palais de Chaillot. Five avenues come from the Trocadéro: the avenue Henri-Martin, the avenue Paul Doumer, the avenue d’Eylau, the avenue Kléber and the avenue d’Iéna.
