I wasn’t a big fan of motor sports and I never thought I would spend days at motor race circuit in my life. Until I got this job assignment which brought me to the Motegi Twin Ring Circuit.
Motegi town is located 300 km north from Tokyo. There’s not much to see in this town. Once a year, there’s a world motorbike championship race at Motegi Twin-Ring (or MTR) and hundreds and thousands of bike race fans gather from around the country. There also come a lot of foreign journalists, mechanics, pit crews and paddock, and the town becomes very international for several days.
If you haven’t ever been to the race circuit, I highly recommend you to visit there once. You will know why these bikes are called ‘monster bikes.’ The bike can easily speed up to 300km/h. The exhaust noise is unbelievably loud and you can’t talk to the person right next to you. You must be crazy enough to be a rider.
This year, I had a chance to spend some time in the grand stand and course side (due to my job assignment, I had a privileged staff pass) to walk around with my Horizon Perfekt. As you may know, the structure of the race circuits is very horizontal. It is such a perfect place for panoramic pictures. There are some light towers and you may want to take some ‘vertical panorama’ pictures, too.
