Grimaldis Pizza
written by tommynorth on August 27th, 2009 , 7 comments (4 votes)

I love pizza and when i was in New York last i wanted to try the best pizza, i heard it was a toss up between grimaldis and Di Faras. So i decided to try them both. We arrived at Grimaldis a bit worse for wear after my girlfriend and i stopped to use the bathroom and ended up a couple of beers and two tequilas worse for wear. As you can see from the pictures my girlfriend spent the majority of the two hour wait “warming the curb”

I stumbled down the line slowly as my stomach started eating itself until finally i got inside and ordered a pizza from a nice guy from Lithuania, but I’m not sure it could have been Latvia (I was a bit drunk and hungry). I got my ticket watched a large his panic guy take out piece after piece of what looked like processed mozzarella and slap them on to pizza after pizza then went outside to tell Jillian the good news. That’s when the trouble started.

Mr Grimaldi marched up to me and demanded my ticket and that i couldn’t have any pizza and my precious Jillian was a health hazard. Try telling this to a drunk English man who has just spent two hours of his life waiting for food. i shall paraphrase but it was something like:

Having seen the pizza shaped fire in my eyes he backed off and i carried my pizza and girlfriend down to the docks. You can see in the Polaroids Jillian’s magic recovery after the pizza and the shell of a woman she was before. She even managed to stand up for a pose with the Brooklyn bridge.

Pros: getting pizza in a paper bag is awesome, eating it down at the docks is awesome, as we ate we saw the sun go down over Manhattan.

Cons: The pizza is not all that, sauce is too sweet, the line was stupid and long (a better system is available) Mr grimaldis is not all that nice a guy (in my opinion).

Verdict: go to Di Faras (see di fara lomolocation)
