Sporting the classic era-appropriate looks that it was surely created with, this booth is updated in only the sense that you pay by card. One swipe, 4 dollars and a few seconds later and you’ve got 4 quick chances to strike a pose or funny face of your choosing. After a patient wait of 3 or 4 minutes, the results are that crystal clean old fashioned strip of jet black and cream white shots that the older folks desperately miss from their youth, and the youth intensely crave a chance at experiencing.
This booth is right inside the lobby of the Ace Hotel and is open to the public for use, regardless of whether you have any business at the hotel. It doesn’t hurt that there’s an entrance connecting the lobby to the very suave Clyde Common bar & restaurant. After 2 drinks my boyfriend and I found ourselves spending an ultra quick $30 in that classic machine (oh, how fast that money went, even faster than money spent on alcohol I tell you!).
Still don’t believe me? Try it for yourself, and smell the photos right after they pop out. That ultra rotten smell is proof of the age of this great booth, something that modern ones probably had on the top of their list of stuff to eliminate. It’s a love-hate thing that always goes back to love; the smell may be horrific, but the amazing souvenirs brought away from the experience are enough to overpower any and all of your senses combined!
