The acid test for knowing if you’re getting the best Japanese food is when you have real Japanese eating beside your table. Hai! That’s not a problem here in Little Tokyo, Makati’s hole in the wall and a genuine tiny Japan. The people here are all Japanese. No Filipino servers at all! Even the menus are all in Jap! and with that, the ambient becomes truly authentic. Try the sake at Hana and the Okonomiyake beside it. This sleepy community of small restos and shops opens late afternoon so when you want to get the real deal you have to wait til 4pm for them to open.
