Checking in to this magnificent place was not only a surprise for him, but for me too as the internet pictures couldn’t have done it justice. Decorated with modern art and located directly across from the waterfront, this hotel was a wonderful change from any place I’ve stayed at before. I paid just under $150 for a room with a king bed and balcony with partial water view. Our room included a plasma screen TV, bath robes waiting to be worn in our closet, and one of the fanciest bathrooms I’ve ever showered in.
So it all looked great, but how did it feel? Amazing! Even after our big night on the town I slept like a baby, especially with all those extra pillows they give you! One of my biggest concerns about staying in a fancy hotel was whether or not the employees would still be friendly and down to earth; I have heard stories of people staying in places where they were almost talked down to. But the staff here was friendly and genuinely excited to find out where we were from and why we were here. We even got great recommendations for which bars would give you free drinks on your birthday!
If ever again I need a place to stay in Portland, and I have some extra money or enough companions to share the cost with, I will surely stay here again. And besides, it’s located near all the greatest bars!
