Some of you may have heard of Jane Tomlinson, she cycled all over the country and further while suffering from Cancer. Cancer took lives prematurely in my family and it meant a lot for my mum (Ginger Lady 1389) to do this run/fast walk to the best of her ability in memory of my gran (her mother) taken far too soon from us. (I managed to do the 5k last month in 37mins, raising £557 for Cancer Research UK)
This race was held in the City of York. It started in york and also finished at the same point on the knacesmire/Raceocourse in york. The 10k traveled along roads that were shut into town, round past the minster and back through again to the finish.
Just over 5000 people participated and I’m VERY proud when I say my mum finished 3724th ☺ with her 2 work colleagues.
There were wheelchairs who set off first and got back in the early 20mins! First runner came back in in 35mins (note my 5k time!)
I guess there’s not a lot I can say about this location, apart from if you get chance to go to a similar event, hopefully you’ll get more chance shooting as I was too busy looking for people I knew! Ooops!!! I would have preferred to ue slide film also! The atmosphere was great and it resulted in tears as I watched my mum run across the finish line! I love my beautiful mum, R.I.P Gran, and anyone else who’s been taken too soon xxx
mum raised £250 and i raised £570 for my run, so this should make a difference!!!
