Graveyard Heuerßen

Mister Flinky and I - both afraid, but the sculpture made us go there.

I am afraid of graveyards. They are so mystique, full of memories and sadness, so many tears have been cried and, what makes me go there from time to time is, that they are often a place of art. Sculptures, stones, writing, flowers, architecture,… So I have to think what counts more, taking shots or not going there.

For the race I decided to go to the graveyard in Heuerßen, because there is a kind of guard standing directly next to the door, watching over all the graves. I must confess that I don’t know who is shown there, if it was a private grave or someone built up there to keep an eye, but I like sculptures.

Heuerßen is very, very small. Just a drive-through-place (if you don’t just pass it and leave it where it is). It has been a small farmers village till in the 1960th the expansion of big cities (Hanover) and people working there and living outside in the nature started a boom building houses there. It is directly near a forest and if you look at the landslide it is quite beautiful. The village itself was first mentioned in 1224, so it is quite old. The church Saint Jürgen has been built up in that time, too.
Mister Flinky liked the sculpture, but not being there.
