The Mittellandkanal is the longest water transportation route that was built in Germany. It is connecting Dortmund-Ems-Kanal and river Elbe. The decision was made in 1905 to build this canal. In 1938 it was finished, but widened later.
There are lots of bridges over it and the one I love to go to is in Sachsenhagen.
Sachsenhagen is a city, although it has only 2000 inhabitants. It gained the right to be called “city” in 1650. Mittellandcanal has even a “harbour” in Sachsenhagen. The bridge I like I had to cross to go to work. So I saw it nearly every day, in every season and in every light condition. I like going there when the sun sets, like being there to take shots of the structure of the bridge, shoot the reflections on the water, the boats, the clouds, cars and people passing, the nature around. It is not quiet, it is not special, but I like being there and Mister Flinky enjoyed it, too!
