It is more than a hut on a hill. That’s what Mister Flinky liked, too, being there. Looking at the people passing, the harvesting farmers and enjoying the quietness of that place.
Bergkirchen is a very small (and old) village on top of a small hill. That’s what give the village the name: hill (= Berg) and a church (=Kirche) that is the centre of the one-street-drive-through-village. With its position on top of the hill, Bergkirchen has been a kind of natural border between two counties: Schaumburg and Hannover, but that changed in 1976 when all counties were rearranged.
I had to drive through Bergkirchen many, many times to go to work. So I saw this beautiful view every day and my favourite tree standing in a field. But stopping is a good plan. When you see a strange Jesus- sculpture (aluminum with red spots showing the wounds) you can stop, cause next to it, there is a small hut with a kind of map in stone showing the cities you can see and a beautiful view at lake Steinhude. You see fields, tiny farms, animals,… and it is quite nice to sit there, wait for the setting sun, bring a picknick and enjoy the landscape.
That’s what Mister Flinky liked, too, being there. Looking at the people passing, the harvesting farmers and enjoying the quietness of that place.
