Located in Cabazon, California off the I-10 freeway, just outside of Palm Springs, lies a sight you would not expect to happen upon in the middle of the desert… two life size dinosaurs! The two dinos, which were constructed in the 1960’s and later completed in the 1980’s, have stood alone in the desert next to a small diner for years until just recently, when the location was turned into a small park.
Located inside the belly of the long neck(if you dare to enter willingly!) is a mini museum and gift shop containing all sorts of dinosaur and desert affiliated goodies to help you remember your visit. With the recent additions, another museum has been added behind the towering T-Rex, grass has planted around the dinosaurs, and a number of fast food restaurants have been built just around them to attract more visitors.
Oh and yes! yes! These are the infamous dinosaurs that are featured in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure! Although, sadly, sitting inside the mouth of the T-Rex is not an option!
So on your way to Palm Springs, Los Angeles, or where ever you may be headed, be cautious and keep a weary eye out for the pair of nothing short of life-size dinosaurs just outside your car window!
