Jinnah - Yummy Yummy All You Can Eat Curry!!
written by hanspan on August 15th, 2009 , 6 comments (1 vote)

The Jinnah is one of four restaurants in a group located locally to York. We visited the Flaxton restaurant just off the A64 on the way to Scarborough. (I’ve also eaten at 2 others of the 4!) It’s an ideal place to stop if you are passing on the return home journey from Scarborough or even to plan to go (we went after work one evening)

We went to the All you can eat buffet for a bargainous £10.95 – this offer runs Sunday – Thursday. The menu goes as follows, poppadoms and pickle tray with some of the tastiest home made lime pickle that I have ever tasted (it made my eyes water, and my nose run) but it was Amazing, with the other dips being Mango Chutney, Yogurt and mint raita dip, salad, onions & tomato.. yummy! Following this a mixed grill starter was brought out, lamb, chicken, pakoras, onion bhajis, shish kebab and there’s enough for one of each, EACH!! Then we were brought a plate, larger than the two previous plates! The curries were laid out under revolving/rotating metal shiny domes, all with labels indicating the spice level of the curry! Choices of Chicken, Lamb and Beef throughout the menu, and they even made me a passanda upon request for no extra cost!!

3 kinds of rice, including my favorite, the plain rice with the rainbow grains mixed in… yes… I play with my food!!! If you are a daring person, I’d recommend the garlic chili beef, absolutely amazing but can melt your tongue on the 2nd mouthful – it’s really worth it. Tender beef that doesn’t even need cutting, and it falls apart at the sight of a knife! Haha! You’ll see the proof of the Hot chili beef as I gulp my drink in the attempt to cool my mouth!

Choices of desserts available were almost impossible to think about, but why is it you ALWAYS find space for pudding, no matter how full you are!? Mmmmmm Kulfi Ice cream, and it’s homemade too! Far better than that of the Asian Supermarket (which reminds me I need to get some kulfi and some Hello Panda from the Japanese supermarket)

The restaurant is warm and welcoming, with Asian staff dressed in traditional wear creating a natural authentic experience which is not fake or trying to be something it’s not. It’s a genuinely friendly atmosphere where you feel like you’ve almost dined intimately within their living room!

Don’t forget to check out the relaxation room for post curry chilling! Yes we managed to eat some more after all of the curry, devouring chocolate mints and a cup of tea (I don’t drink coffee) and remember to look up as the ceilings are AMAZING!!

Sadly for me the batteries were flat in my flash, so I had to rely on a steady hand and the fantastic automatic exposure of the LC-A in the poor light within the venue!

I’d recommend anyone to go but remember your elasticated pants!
