The tram museum of Bruxelles is run by volunteers since 1982. The museum houses a collection of more than 60 vehicles dating from 1868 ( steam engine) to nowadays. It houses the oldest electric car (1901) built in Belgium. In addition visitors can ride on trams dating from the beginning of the century on the line through the woods to Tervuren and towards the museums in the “Cinquantenaire”.
In Tervuren I recommend you to visit the African Museum : there’s a gorgeous collection of African art from Congo, which is really Worth the visit! The historical trams ride on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 22/03 to the beginning of October 2008. The museum, however, is closed for renovations. You can board the trams and buy your tickets on the way.
The “Brussels Tourist Tramway” rides on Sunday by reservation, and with visit: on the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Sunday of the month in French, and on the 2nd Sunday of the month in Dutch. Rates: Line Cinquantenaire-Woluwe-Tervuren: Adult: € 5,-. Children from 6 to 11 years: € 2,-.
