Vigan Hidden Garden

An new attraction slowly gaining ground for its beauty and delicious treats.

Honestly, I was a little apprehensive about where we were going next. But the hotel staff were insistent that I drop by the place and check out the city’s newest attractions. Upon entering, I noticed the photos of celebrities who have visited the garden in recent months. Chancing upon the owner, he told me of his story and how the garden became a project of his having suffered his third heart attack. This form of therapy also proved to be a turning point for the owner. Inside the compound you will find all sorts of varieties of local and imported plants. The occasional wooden bench welcomes passers by to appreciate the scene and just as the saying would go “take time to smell the flowers”. The best way to enjoy any garden of course would be to stroll along the paved walkway and just take everything in.

After the leisurely walk, passing by the bamboo thicket, I eyed a small cafe serving local dishes fresh from the garden. From what I hear it’s slowly earning a reputation for serving some of the best versions of local dishes. I tried their halo-halo which is a local dessert and a medley of sweet beans, coconut gel, yams, flans in crushed ice and milk all mixed together but don’t knock it till you try it. Which reminds me, maybe I’ll have another bowl after lunch.
