Namibia is dry, until you get here!
The Epupa Falls lie on the Kunene River, on the border of Angola and Namibia. The river is 0.5 km wide and drops in a series of waterfalls spread over 1.5 km, with the greatest single drop being 37 m. The place surprises you after visiting the rest of the country. Where every landscape is dry, here you find huge amounts of water. There are 2 places to stay. One is a caravan camping and the other is a lodge with the tents just 2 meters from the river. Crocodiles are just there so don’t drink too much or avoid this if you are a sleepwalker. The views from the top of the hill are wonderful. On the other side of the river is Angola.
This is also the home place of the Himba people, that you see everywhere. Being here is like being far from civilitation. It takes 4 hours driving from Opuwo through mountains and rocky paths. But it worth’s arriving here. The sunset is also amazing and you can find huge Baobab trees to shoot if you walk along the river.
