Biorock Reef Project - Underwater Location
written by somapic on July 11th, 2009 , 5 comments (3 votes)

It´s just a few meters from Diving Center Werner Lau in Pemuteran Bali to the house – reef- project “Biorock”. Years of dynamite and cyanide fishing and also the big tsunami in 2004 destroyed big parts of Indonesia natural coral vegetation. Ruthless tourism and strong current finished off the beautiful and rich coral gardens.

But there are people making big efforts to revitalize the damaged under water world. It´s known that shipwrecks and scrapped drill towers make perfect artificial reefs. But who would have thought that electricity has the power to attract sponges, soft and hard corals, sea fans and all sort of fish!? Electrified steel grids seem to be perfect for anemones, sponges, and corals to settle down.

Now, as the water dept ranges from 3 to 15 meters at the bio-rock reef, it´s the perfect place to bring your LC-A+ & KRAB or the Fisheye in it´s submarine! You don´t need to be scuba diving to enjoy that blossoming underwater location also snorkelers will savor the full beauty of the spot.

Be careful not to damage the reef when you´re taking pictures!!

Splendid gallery ! And this electricity thing is interesting ! And it's a good moment to say the diver's sentence about diving :"Take only pictures and leave only bubbles"...
