Kanazawa castle and Kenrokuen Park are the tourists’ number-one popular spots among many, but I really enjoyed just walking around town watching old buildings in small alleys. If you feel you had enough bits of traditional side of this town, maybe you wanna spend few hours at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. Isn’t it a luxury to have such traditional and modern tastes at the same time?
Kanazawa is well known for the seafood, too. We’ve tried the fish market in the center of town. There are hundreds of small shops as well as restaurants inside/outside the market that serve fresh seafood dishes. Our choice of that day was rice bowls with assorted seafood (tuna fish, squid, salmon, scallop and shrimps) on top. We also tried this Italian restaurant the following night which was recommended on our guide book. A plate of spaghetti with chunky crab meats in creamy sauce was good enough to make us speechless… It was damn good and we went back to the fish market next morning to have some king crabs sent to our parents’ house.
