Rottnest Island is a Class A reserve located 18km off the coast of Perth. It is 11 kilometers long and 4.5 kilometers wide. It’s a 24k ride around the Island, there are buses that go around but if you’re not too lazy you might as well go on foot or bike. A ferry takes you from Perth or Fremantle to Rottnest, the journey takes approximately 25 minutes from Fremantle, or 90 minutes from Perth’s Barrack Street Jetty.

Once on the Island I like to head north on foot and stop at some of the 63 different beaches the Island has to offer. Some are big and some are really hidden, but in the end you always manage to find your own little private beach. Along the way you will come across Quokkas, birds and all kind of wildlife. The Beaches are some of the best in the world, pure white sand and crisp clear water, so don’t forget your Fisheye submarine! Rottnest is also famous among divers and has plenty of shipwrecks to explore.

It’s a Great place to go with a group of friends, I usually leave from Perth at 11am and catch the ferry back at 4 or 7pm depending on the weather. On your way back don’t forget to stop at the little café for a drink, its usually full of Quokkas!
