Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. It’s located in the North of Italy, and it is divided between the provinces of Verona, Brescia and Trento. The lake is full of little beautiful villages and is one of the favorites places to vacation for the Italians.
We decided with my family to visit this lake. We visit really nice places like Riva del Garda, Limone, but the one that i loved was Malcesine. When you are approaching to the village you start to see a tower, that means one thing, a castle! The village is precious, of typical medieval aspect, with narrow streets and the balconies with flowers. A lot of coffees, restaurants and of course “gelateria".

This magnificent castle in the top of a hill and to the shores of the lake is called Castle Scaligero. Has its roots in the name of the noble family Della Scala from Verona, who dominated the area in 1280. it was constructed during the reign of the Longobards and like was a defensive wall to the village was destroyed and reconstructed many times by the enemies.
Nowdays the guardhouse of the castle is the Natural History of Garda and Monte Baldo museum. The “Sala Goehte” has a brief resume of the pictures and drawings that the poet-artist dedicated to Lake Garda and Malcesine during his Italian journey. And finally the tower with its 31 metre high gives you a spectacular view of the lake and Malcesine. So if you are around this area don’t miss visit Lake Garda!
