Not very far from Lake Garda, at about 15 km north from Riva del Garda, the little village of Drena looks down on the Sarcla valley. This region has been inhabited since prehistoric ages, and has been influenced by the Roman and the Medieval period. In the Middle Ages, the rock, which dominated the road between Lake Garda and the Cavendine Valley.

It was destroyed by the French troops in 1703. After careful restoration by the Trento Provincial Government, the complex was open to visitors (entry costs 2€). A bif wall encloses the remains of a the count’s palace, a small chapel, and a few buildings. Ask for the key of the tower, climb the narrow staircase, and then admire the view over the valley from the top of the 25 metres high fourteenth-century tower. The rocks below are called “Marroche” and they are a huge post-glacial landslips.

If you are very romantic and plan to get married, you can rent the castle for a wedding !
