Lake Iseo "Pearl of Lombardia" Italy

Enjoy "la dolce vita" by Lake Iseo in Italy, a treasure for the few.

Lake Iseo ( aka Lago d’Iseo, or Sebino) is the fourth largest Italian lake. It is located in Lombardia, between Lake Como and Lake Garda, just north of Brescia and Bergamo. The lake was formed at the bottom of a glacier of Val Camonica.

The fact that Lake Iseo is not well known outside Italy and therefore less touristic, makes it more appealing. It is a long and narrow lake sheltered by mountains.(25kms long and 5 kms width). Most of the lakeside town have a picturesque promenade, and some of the local churches are very old and contain art that is worth seeing.

But the biggest attactions is Monte Isola, the largest inland lake island in Europe. It is very easy to reach it by ferry, from Sulzano, for example (It coasts about 6 € to go and return). The island is very quiet, because only public service four wheeled vehicles are allowed. But if you prefer not to walk, you can rent bicycles or take the local bus to visit it.
