The closest shore of this ear-shaped lake is one hour walking from Dali old city. You will find lots of Bai minority villages around the lake. Some are very touristic with a Bai museum (Xizhou), others are very commercial where all the “hand-made” items for the Dali touristic markets are produced (Zhoucheng), it is a little chance to find the less “touristically-spoiled” places. Shuanglang is also considered as an interesting village where the houses are built from glass.
But the atmosphere was so relaxed that day that we preferred to take the bicycles and drive to the lake shore to enjoy the tranquil landscape and the water (which was very cold). Just another perfect day of recharging the batteries by doing nothing :)
