I moved to Bucharest 7 years ago. I only know 0,003 % of the people living here, but I'm happy.
I moved to Bucharest because this was the only place I could study film directing. I stayed here because all major film work is done here. In the meantime I started enjoying taking pictures and having fun photographing people on the street.
This city has a lot of new buildings and a lot of old fashion neighborhoods which remind me of communist era. There is also the old part of town, the one American aviation didn’t bomb in 1945 and a lot of buildings survived Ceausescu’s plans of modernizing the city, too. A city of contrasts. With beautiful/shitty architecture, with skyscrapers and ruins on the same street.
The pictures are from this 7 years period I’ve been living here. It’s easy to tell which is older/newer, right? Maybe this preview will get you curious to see more, maybe plan a trip here, too. If you visit town in 10 years you might just not see it anymore. I don’t really find the use of a picture that has nothing human in it. A picture with great landscape is as useless as a jar of honey when you shipwreck in the Atlantic. That’s why I consider Bucharest a town of faces. I enjoy people have their own problems and are usually careless of cameras.
