Venezia is built on 120 small islands connected by 400 bridges that cross 150 canals!
The best way to came here is by train, Just outside de station are this big boats called “vaporetos”, they are the public transportation, just like a subway. Take the vaporeto to the Piazza San Marco stop is an excellent way to start the tour, besides taking the vaporeto brings you beautiful views of the city for less money than taking a gondola.
Seeing the piazza for the first time impresses you for his beauty and greatness. In one side you have the Ducal’s Palace, in the other side The Clock’s Tower and finally the Basilica of San Marco with his mosaics cover in gold. Also you will see the real owners of the Piazza, the doves!. Is a great show to see how the people feed them while you listen in the background a Tango played by the orchestras of the cafés.
Another thing that you can’t miss is walk by the little streets to the Rialto Bridge and see the stores of Murano’s crystal, Jeweler’s stores and shops of masks of the carnival of venezia on the way. The view from this bridge is amazing, is a real chaos how the vaporetos, gondolas and boats pass across the great canal. Finally you have to eat a “gelato”(ice cream) while you look at the life of Venezia on a bridge.
